Look Out Hempstead, Space Cowgirl and Rocket are Roaming The Range by: brendasue

Come In!  We are taking a ride to the Country today.
(which is about 2 miles for me)

Rosebud    by:  brendasue

The gardens at Kates Cabin reflect the look of late August after days of 100 degree heat and not too much rain. The knock out roses are still blooming and the crape myrtles.  And though it is very hot, my mind knows from experience that it will begin to cool somewhat.
The days are getting shorter and the plants respond by slowing down and going to seed. School has started and yes, I saw Christmas Decorations at Walmart!  I guess we better swing into fall.

Ready or Not, here it comes!    (Fall)

Hi Rocket!    by:  brendasue

Here we are over on my favorite country road:
77 Sunset Strip (Texas).

The tree line behind Rocket is along  Rainbow Creek.
Our photostudy today is about Rocket, the Flying Horse.

Hot Rocket    by:  brendasue

Does anyone know where Rocket is going?

What do you see, Rocket?   by:  brendasue

Yes, he is going to get a drink of water down at the pond like he always does in the afternoon. Today, he is hesitating and looking around.  Horses can sense danger very well.

(I do not see anything or anyone).

Having a cool drink    by:  brendasue

Everything must be okay as Rocket has gone into the drink for a drink!

His eyes are still on guard for anything    by:  brendasue

Rocket sucks water up in his mouth to drink. Horses can drink alot of water at one time, but it will last them all day.

The pause that refreshes      by:  brendasue

Rocket continues drinking from the pond.

Still Drinking!   by:  brendasue

Rocket was very thirsty today. It is very hot around 100 degrees on August 29, 2010

Thinking about having a little more water    by:  brendasue

Rocket lifts his head from the water and seems to be thinking about having one more sip.

Yes, a little more water, please     by: brendasue

Rocket is enjoying his water break on this peaceful lazy afternoon.

Something has 'spooked' Rocket    by:  brendasue

Oh my!  The horse is scared and turned and ran from the water like a Rocket.  What Happened?

(I do not see anything, which means nothing).

Rocket is so scared, he keeps running    by:  brendasue

Rocket is running for the top of the hill. Something was in the bushes by the pond that scared him really bad to make him run like this.  Some things I know that would not scare Rocket would be turtles, coons, deer, armadillos, possums, rabbits, chickens, ducks or birds.
Somethings that could be here to scare Rocket:
Snake, fox, coyote, wolf or wild boar.
I did not see what is was. But whatever, if it scared that horse so bad, I do not want to see it. (It would not be a person).

Safe again on the hill     by:  brendasue

Rocket is okay and back at the top of the hill. I am heading home to the woods!
This concludes our photostudy today with Rocket.  He did seem to be flying like a Rocket out of the water.

Spooky Dianthus       by:  brendasue

Spooky Dianthus is a great fall flower in this part of Texas (zone 9)
Thanks for stopping in for a little Nature Break.  Hope you enjoyed the countryside!

Space Cowgirl Rides Again With Camera by brendasue

Movement Through Space and Time for Sharon

Welcome Class, Come on in. There is some stuff going on you are not going to believe, so take 5 and we will get started.

Sharon, President of Marthas Bloomers Photo Club, (I have friends in high places), Anyway.....she sent me a mail asking if I had any photos showing movement for the club meeting on Saturday. In thinking about this I realized that everything is in constant motion (even if something appears to not be in motion, it is on the surface of the Earth, which is constanly turning; remember As The World Turns?). The camera is only a digital recorder. While you can capture something in motion, one frame cannot show movement.
The best we can do in one frame is give an illusion of movement.
It is up to the Human Brain to assume the next frame which would then show movement. Therefore, our photostudy today will be on frames showing illusions of movement.  See if your Human Brain will take the logical next step and feel movement. A frog can anticipate the next move of a fly, so they can make logical conclusions about movement also.  But they can't read which  is why I included only the logic of a Human Brain.....for you!

Above we can see that the hummingbird is in flight. Our brain has to conclude his wings are going to fly and move him in some direction to feel the movement the photo implies.

Here is a rose that appears to be floating in the air.  However, our brains know roses do not float in the air. We cannot logically conclude the next frame will show the rose floated off in any direction because we know logically that rosebushes are planted in the ground and the roses attached with stems and branches, seemingly a fixed object (on a moving planet). The only thing we can logically conclude in this photo is No, roses do not float-this is a lie. (Or that brendasue's photoArt created an illusion in our minds that maybe they float in the air!) Alright, the camera recorded the stem and I took it out!

Here comes Rocket, the flying horse. This photo is a strong feeling of motion as our minds know how a fourlegged animal moves and can logically conclude his right leg is about to move forward. We know this is not how they look when they are standing still. And if you were standing where I am day after day, you would see the pond and know it is Rocket's habit to go get a drink of water at this time of day.
Many things happen in our brains to detect motion (or lack of it).

Yes, his right foot has moved forward as we thought and we see the water. In a series of photos, you can see the actual movement took place.

Here we see that Rocket has moved his head from the last photo. If this photo were standing alone, however, we would not conclude his head is moving. I think the movement this photo indicates is more obvious in his tail.

Though we see the ripples in the water, we pretty much can conclude here that his feet are no longer moving his body forwaerd.  We see his mouth is moving because we know he is drinking water.

Sharon, did you forget about my UFO????
This photo shows by recording where movement has been by the trail behind the object.
Our minds conclude this is moving very fast across the sky because it is a U F O.

This photo (to me) implies good movement of clouds and a streak on the UFO shows were it has been. The direction it is pointing lets us assume it is heading upward away from the clouds and to outer space!
(*Note here on UFO, This one has still not been identified. Pass it around, please.)

We see a bird in flight, but the color of the clouds suggest movement in the sky as we know the sun sets everyday and these clouds will move away.

Another flying bird and rainclouds moving in.

The feel of movement is stronger seeing more birds.

I think we all get the idea these birds are flying in the sky.

Now this single 'bird' feels as though it is moving because we see the exhaust trail

We see the direction it is pointing.

In a series of photos, we can see there has been directional movement.

Here the Sun is setting so we assume the movement is going down

In a second photo, we can say yes the sun is in setting motion and the position has changed from last frame.

I think we would all assume in this shot that yes the rose is floating!

We can assume by the position of Kay Lonnie's head, that there is sound connected with this type of movement!  Baaaaaaaaoooooooooooooooooooh (Sharon's favorite)
And on that note, we say Goodnight to All

and Goodnight New Moon.

The Grandma Photographer On A Wild Rocket Ride! (Go Granny!) by: brendasue

The Second Shot Seen Around The World

Ground Control To Major Tom:

Don't Worry,  They Are Coming To Get You!

I Found You!

Brendasue to the Rescue (updated  2010 by Kay Lonnie Wray, aka:  Miss America, A Star is Born!)

Good Evening Class, Everybody come on in.
Kay Lonnie is ready to start this Class.
As you can see they are waiting for us on our Rooftop Deck which is our Window on the World  for Observation of the
Nature of Rainbow Creek.

Hi Kay Lonnie.  Hi Little King. Here we come up our Stairway to Heaven.

Let The Class Begin!  Thanks, Kay Lonnie

Kay Lonnie wants me to let you all know that she has friends in High Places.
Since our UFO sighting on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Sunset Over The Woods of Rolling Hills Colony and
Kates Cabin On Rainbow Creek, A Bird Sanctuary;
Kay has learned many top secret things about our Rocket.

First of All,  We are not Crazy  (well maybe a little).      It seems there is, in fact,

A Rocket Flying Around the Google Earth and apparently it is Lost in Space as they cannot find it on the Google Maps ( or Apps).
This is some kind of Secret Mission Impossible and Nobody is Talking about this Due To a Big Screwup by Several People.

First of all, when they decided to have a Secret Rocket, of course they had to have a Secret Pilot  I could be wrong but I get the idea that whoever was in charge of hiring this Secret Pilot, Major Tom, somehow overlooked giving Major Tom a Drug Test. (Heads will roll on this one, I think his name was Mr. Bill. Anyway that doesn't matter.)
Supposedly, some other guy named Elvis I think, (probably the same one that tried to get Kay Lonnie removed from Google Blogger for being Stinky), was in charge of the Pilot and Passengers boarding the Secret Rocket and did not properly conduct a body search or luggage check on Major Tom.
It seems they have been able to determine that Major Tom took some Secret Space Drugs during the Secret Launch from the Sky on (or about April 22, 2010 (at night) of this Secret Rocket.

Major Tom got so loaded during the Rocket Ride to the Outer Limits that he punched the wrong button and the Secret Rocket went off the Secret Flight Plan. Since radar cannot detect it and all the secret stealth stuff has made it invisible, They have lost it and Major Tom. (Word is he is alive and still tripping on Electric Coolaide or something like that, doesn't matter).
But, he can't find his way home.

Well, Luckily for Major Tom, I was walking down a country road with my camera and found the rocket they lost.

I mean I am Just Outstanding In My Field
and I see an Unidentified Flying Object

(For this people think I Am Crazy?????)

Excuse Me, but did I loose a Secret Rocket and Major Tom?

I believe I found them.

(Believe me, Grandma Poppy has a whole new view on loosing my glasses and keys.)

Of course, Elvis has left the Building and can't be found.

Hang in there Major Tom, Kay Lonnie says.

Can you see us Major Tom??

Kay Lonnie and the Little King would like to Know what the reward is for finding a Lost Secret Rocket??

It just so happens we are trying to Raise Money and Attention to
Save Our Shore Birds of the Gulf Coast.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

Can you hear me Major Tom?

Our Photostudy today will be inside the sunset with Major Tom

This is Ground Control to Major Tom

Can you hear me Major Tom?

Can you hear me?

Can you hear us Major Tom?

Major Tom?

This is Ground Control:  We can see You and They Are Coming to Get You!

Well Class, it seems we have lost our connection with Major Tom.
It appears he is definately zoned out in  Outer Space Somewhere.
This concludes our photostudy for today.

I did get you that Texas Sunset! (And a Rocket in my Pocket!)

And Here is an Alien in the Tree:  Ima Hawk, our Red Shouldered Hawk Chick.

Goodnight Everyone, Everywhere!
