Hi Everybody, Come on in. We are heading up to the roof today as I promised Kay Lonnie (the rising Star) she could open the Class.

Climbing the stairway to Heaven and I find 3 dogs waiting for Us!

Here is fat Sissy, little King, and Kay Lonnie Wray (aka Miss Dog America). This is Kay's private rooftop deck complete with a boardwalk runway! I come up here in the mornings and have coffee and we all watch the birds. Dogs seem to enjoy watching the birds.

They all look up in the sky. They all bark if they hear Rambo screaming through the woods! (Rambo is our Hawk).

I wanted you to see the summer phase of my big trees. They are full of green leaves and shade the yard. Soon they will all come down to the ground and my trees will become winter skeletons once again!

I built Kay Lonnie her own railing at just her size

Under this stage is a covered back porch so the dogs can get out of the rain.  I have the French doors that enter the cabin from this the backyard.

The King and the Grasshopper.

Our photostudy today will look at 2 different grasshoppers that hopped in front of the camera. One is on my chair where I shoot the hummingbirds. The other landed in some vines. As it is September, the number of grasshoppers increase. They do not eat all my leaves and the birds really love them! So have a look at these cute little guys. Imagine if you had their long legs!!!!  Enjoy.

Well, class, it appears this guy is from Wyoming. He was sent by one of the friend's of Kates Cabin, Skipper, to be our guest Class Opener.  I do not know for sure what It Is, but I think

It is a Jack Rabbit!

It is August in Texas and H*O*T*
I have two flowering trees that love this heat. One is a Crape Myrtle.
The other is the Althea. (Some people still call this the old fashioned name: The Rose of Sharon.)

This flower is called a double pink althea.  This particular tree is between the two cabins, so I pass it often during the day while I go back and forth between the two.  Mom's House was 2 story. In her last years it became more difficult for her to walk up the stairs. She would always say when she gets upstairs, she needs something downstairs. Sometimes things she was looking for downstairs, I would find upstairs and vice versa.  Anyway, her dream had been the two story house. I felt it was a nightmare and decided I never ever wanted to spend time going up and down looking for stuff. I never did have a 2 story house. I do have a big set of stairs, but they go to the roof only.
No, the birdbrain here (me), decided to have two houses instead of two stories!  I can tell you I spend alot of time going back and forth looking for stuff. (Must be a certain mental illness that runs in the family;  Look Out Kids!)
Well, On this day, I felt like someone was behind me somewhere looking at me. I turned to find: nothing.  I felt some eyes again so I looked up to see:

This-A little grasshopper looking at Me.

Little Grasshopper, I see you are eating my Althea flower. 
Good thing I have lots of them!

He is kind of cute!

So, our photostudy today is of this grasshopper and this flower

For the photography students: This is one grasshopper and the same flower throughout the photostudy. Note the way the heavy shade affects the pictures.

And welcome to my mini Nature Class with Photography Tips and Ideas.  Greatest World Class Ever-No Teacher, No Tests, No Rules, No Grades, No Dress Code. Strictly Come as you are and stay if you want to or click off.

I hope to encourage you to get a camera and start taking photos of your world. If you you begin to learn just a little bit about the living things on the Earth, you will want to learn More. So, what did you do for your Earth Today? Sit on it? Start to think about doing something for the good of the Earth. We do have to live here, there are no other options!

These Zinnias were planted from seed last spring. For flowers that love the Hot Texas Heat In August, The Zinnia has to be at the top of the short list.

As you can see, these flowers are standing up in 100 degree heat (and I'm not!)


*Photography Tip:  Plan your photoshoots very carefully if you have this type of heat. It is not good for you or the digital cameras for long exposure to this temperature. Protect the cameras and freeze some bottles of water in advance for you.
