Hi Everybody: Come on down to Rainbow Creek. I want you to pause in this picture for a moment. I want you to remember that when you have troubled times (as all Humans do), bring your mind to a place like rainbow creek here, where it is still and quiet. Allow yourself some time to just be. No matter how bad the Storm of the moment is........it will pass.



Look at this Hummingbird we have here. As it is still terribly cold and raining outside, I have retreated to the warmth of the office and dove into my computer to find you a photostudy of one of my favorite days last summer. We will take a look at these Birds of Summer and feel what it is like just to hang out with them. We had over 200 which allowed me to observe them and feed them on a daily basis. They accepted me as the old lady with the camera and they were not frightened. Enjoy these delightful birds.

A Star is Born at Kates Cabin on Rainbow Creek!

Welcome to all People to a World Class of Nature Studies at the Bird Sanctuary.

Chickadee dee dee says You will not believe what is going on around here today. (She's Back!)

Let us go up to the rooftop deck where we hold our class on nice days. Kay Lonnie is waiting for us so she can begin the class. I am talking about a New Kay Lonnie, she has turned into a Star!

Here we come Kay Lonnie! You are looking beautiful today. (Please note she now requires a Princess Comforter.)

And a new, blue tube top! (Oh Brother!)

She wants everyone to see that it says #1 Touch Girl meaning she likes to be petted.

Kay Lonnie, you haven't given the signal yet. Oh, I see; you had to get your imported shell necklace on first.

What is it now?

Oh, it is a little cool in your tank top so you need your mink vest? Kay Lonnie, we must get the class started so enough with this drama queen business.

Our Photostudy today will be on spring trees and shrubs blooming today at Kates Cabin.

Above is a rare white flowering quince. This is a shrub that makes a little fruit named quince. They always bloom in January/February here on Rainbow Creek.

Here is a Bradford Pear shooting up buds. He will be covered with white flowers soon. This type does not make edible pears.

Here is the first fruit tree to pop. It is a nectarine tree. This is his 3rd year in the yard and he has been first every year.

The fruit he made last year was delicious. I am looking at these flowers and thinking about what is to come in june.

Such a pretty pink flower in a springday sky.

Here is a tulip magnolia just starting to pop. I posted the fuzzy bud a few days ago. This flower appears on bare branches and the leaves come after bloom. The tall pine trees are above the bloom.

Here is another bloom with Kates Cabin in the background.

Had to go back to the nectarine tree one more time.

Just Beautiful.

Especially after such a cold winter that is not over yet.

Here is a flowering quince shrub that is the normal orange color.

This is the first flower to open on the mexican plum tree.

And here is the bush honeysuckle still going in the street bed.
